Donate Food

MCREST has ensured three meals a day for our guests every day since 1988. That's over 36 years.

And we need your help for the next 36.

Food donations are a vital part of MCREST’s mission to provide nourishing meals for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. With your support, we can ensure that no one goes hungry while they work towards independence. By donating surplus food, fresh ingredients, or prepared meals, you help us stretch our resources and serve more guests each day. Every donation makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those who rely on our shelter and services.

“I would gladly turn over my kitchen to a team that wants to help with breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This initiative can help subsidize our budget, ensuring we can continue to serve our guests. Food donations are essential to our mission at MCREST. Items always in need include bulk pasta, No. 10 cans of tomato sauce or vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, white bread and buns, frozen ground beef, hot dogs, hamburgers, powdered drink mixes, and boxed cereal or bulk snacks. We need all of these items all the time. Your support in providing these donations helps us ensure that we can continue to serve nutritious meals to our guests."

What do you need to do to donate?

Call ahead to Jay to confirm your donation.

We plan all three meals each day, whether we cook it ourselves or it is being handled by the host church for the week. To help Jay set and keep his schedule, please call ahead to ensure no food goes to waste!

Based on what is most convenient for you, you can bring your donation to our Women and Children's Shelter (also our kitchen facility) or Jay will come pick up the food at a pre-determined time.

Please note:     If you're providing a full meal, must feed a minimum of 50 people.

Calling All Restaurant Owners!
Give your extra food a purpose other than the trash can.

MCREST is calling on local restaurant owners to help us provide vital meals to individuals and families experiencing homelessness by donating unused food. Every day, high-quality meals are being thrown out, but with your help, those meals could become a lifeline for our guests who need them most. By donating your surplus food, you can turn what would have been waste into essential care that nourishes those in need.

All donated meals must feed a minimum of 50 people.

Our chef and kitchen coordinator, Jay Newcomb, is ready to make the process as easy as possible by coordinating convenient pick-up from your location. While we will accept many forms of delivery, the most convenient option is a 4” deep pan kept hot or frozen.

If you’d like to contribute, contact Jay at jayn@mcrest.org // (586) 372-5854
to arrange a donation and help make a difference in your community.

Gift Cards
We'll happily accept gift cards to these stores where we purchase food.
