Moms for Moms Campaign meets goal of furnishing shelter
July 19, 2021
You did it! Because of you, we have been able to raise enough funds to create a warm and welcoming environment for Macomb County mothers and children experiencing homelessness. Because of you, we will be able to furnish our new shelter.
MCREST successfully raised $65,000 through the generosity of supporters like you to furnish the new shelter. MCREST especially thanks Christian Financial Credit Union as our Moms for Moms Matching Sponsor. Thank you to The Mitt.tv for sponsoring Moms for Moms and to St. Lucy’s Catholic Church & St. John the Apostle Anglican Church for supporting Moms for Moms. A very special thanks to Gardner White for its donation of furniture.
To our community supporters—we couldn’t have done it without you!
Right now, more than 1,000 children are experiencing homelessness in Macomb County. As our community faces job loss and eviction, MCREST’s support services are more imperative than ever.
MCREST’s permanent women and children’s shelter will serve more than 45 women and children with emergency shelter, reducing the traumatic impact of homelessness in children by giving families a stable location to transition to self-reliance. Men experiencing homelessness will continue to be sheltered through MCREST’s church model.
While women and children are in the program, they will be offered wraparound services, including transportation and childcare assistance, self-improvement classes, student tutoring, and job readiness and job placement support.
